Paraguay Makes History for Deafblindness Day

Paraguay Makes History for Deafblindness Day

On 25 June 2024, the Honorable Chamber of Deputies of Paraguay approved in plenary session a declaration calling for

The International Day of Deafblindness to be declared Day of National Interest

Government and private organisations to take action to support, recognise and make visible people with deafblindness in recognition of deafblindness as a unique condition with specific characteristics and needs

Sending the declaration to the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare, the Ministry of Education and Science, the National Secretariat for Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the National Institute of Statistics.

Indeed a wonderful step forward for the birthday of Helen Keller and a wonderful outcome of DbI’s Interministerial Meeting in Córdoba, Argentina, in which Paraguay was very actively represented. Let’s celebrate!
